The Pikes Peak Pet Pantry is a pending 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing temporary pet food assistance to citizens in Colorado Springs and its surrounding area. The Pantry began in September 2007, after our founder saw an increase in people needing short-term help with the cost of their animals. Since January 22, 2008 we have given out 12,325 pounds of pet food to Colorado residents.
We are the first pet food bank or pantry in Colorado Springs and are dedicated to providing assistance to pet owners facing hardship. Our hope is that by coming to the aid of pet owners, they are able to keep their beloved pets instead of finding the pets a new home, relinquishing them to a shelter, or abandoning them due to temporary financial difficulties. We welcome cash donations as well as dry and canned cat and dog food and cat litter.
Need assistance but not in Colorado? Please see our DIRECTORY of unaffiliated pet food assistance programs throughout the US.
NEWS! THANK YOU to our Sponsors and the Community. We had a successful pet food drive and exceeded our goal of 2,000 pounds of dry food. With our sponsors' help and local media coverage, Colorado Springs and its surrounding community came together to show support for struggling pet owners by donating 5,486 pounds of dry pet food from November 30th to December 31st, 2008. A final total will be available shortly.
