The Pikes Peak Pet Pantry asks that the following guidelines are read and agreed to in order for a household to receive assistance. These guidelines are set up so that we may help as many people as possible. Please follow these accordingly and bring any paperwork requested to complete your application to your interview. If you have any questions or concerns, or would like an application mailed to you, please CONTACT US or call (719) 217-9528.

UPDATED 7/24/08

  • One applicant per household
  • If one would be comfortable allowing us to take a picture of their pet, we encourage clients to bring a pet when they pick up food.
  • We ask for a donation at the time one receives food; whatever amount one can afford; but we do not require it.

  • The amount of pet food a household receives depends on the number of pets, their sizes, and the amount of pet food available at the time of distribution.
  • Assistance may be given up to three times in a six-month period.
  • When the applicant receives 100 pounds of dry dog food or has come three times in a six month period (whichever is first), applicant may not reapply for assistance for 90 days from the most recent acceptance of food.
  • Food is distributed by appointment-only at this time.
  • We reserve the right to refuse anyone under any circumstance, such as someone who is seen as a habitual recipient (continuously comes for food).
  • We ask for personal information when one applies but do not share it with anyone and all information is kept strictly confidential.
  • No one in the household is to resell pet food provided by the Pantry. If we find out the food was resold, the household and all members involved will be banned from assistance indefinitely.
  • We consider special requests for certain types or flavors of dog and cat food (ie. Senior, Indoor formula, etc), but are only able to give what we have at the time the request is made.
  • We reserve the right to make exceptions based on individual need.
  • If you are part of a rescue group and am picking up food for that group or fostered animals, please provide proof of your involvement.
  • We are providing a service to the community and ask that recipients receive only as much food as they need.
  • We offer temporary assistance for feeding pets. We are not to be used as a permanent source of pet food.
  • We accept all kinds of pet food. By accepting food and/or services from the Pantry, the recipient, all household members, their friends and family agree not to hold the Pantry, its staff, and volunteers legally liable in the unfortunate event the recipient's pet(s) becomes ill or the food upsets the pet's stomach.
  • When one receives pet food from the Pantry, they are made aware of the potential risks involved with feeding their pet(s) a new food, since it's unlikely the pet food received is the recipient's usual brand(s).
  • If one applies for assistance and there is no food available, we will keep your name on file and will call when food is available.
  • We will fulfill older requests first before new applications.
  • Call (719) 217-9528 to schedule an interview.
