The Pikes Peak Pet Pantry gets a lot of email and phone calls. Therefore, we have designed a 'FAQ' page. If you have a question please see if it's below first. If you still have questions or would like to contact the Pantry, please CONTACT US or call (719) 217-9528.

"How do I apply for assistance?"

  • Anyone who feels they're in need can apply for assistance. All that has to be done is the person receiving the food calls (719) 217-9528 to schedule an appointment. Please see our APPLICATION guidelines for more detailed information.
  • "Where are you located?"

  • We don't have an office at this time, but our food is distributed from Astro SecurCare, located at 4729 Astrozon Blvd [map].
  • "Do you deliver?"

  • Due to the cost of fuel, we are unable to deliver food at this time. The Mountain Metro transit is available and route #22-Security/Widefield, will go by our distribution site, located near Chelton and Astrozon.
  • "How long could I get assistance? How much food could I get?"

  • We ask only one person per household applies. We are able to provide up to 50 pounds of dog food a month, up to three times in a six month period. If one receives food the maximum amount of times allowed, we ask that household not to reapply for assistance for at least 90 days. Thirty days must pass between pick-ups if the maximum amount of food is received. The amount of cat food we provide is determined by the number of donations we receive. We are not to be used as a permanent supply of a household's pet food. We are established to help those who need temporary assistance.
  • "Do you offer food for other pets such as birds, rabbits, horses, or rodents?"

  • At this time we are only able to offer dog and cat food. However, we are able to get in contact with local rescue groups, who might be able to assist depending on their supplies.
  • "I live in Peyton and am on disability. Could I still get help?"

  • Yes. We serve the Colorado Springs area, including but not limited to: Colorado Springs, Black Forest, Falcon, Peyton, Calhan, Ellicott, Yoder, Rush, Manitou Springs, Woodland Park, Security, Widefield, Fountain, Fort Carson and more. We help those from the military, low-income, the elderly, those on social security, unemployed, on disability, temporarily out of work due to an injury, and anyone needing a hand up to feed their pets temporarily until they get paid.
  • "My neighbor needs food too. Could I pick up food for them?"

  • No. We ask if a neighbor, family member, or friend needs help too, they contact the Pantry directly at (719) 217-9528 to schedule a time convenient for them to pick up food. However, you may carpool with your neighbor or friend when picking up food.
  • "What can I do to help?"

  • We need pet food, sponsorships, and volunteers the most. The volunteer positions available are: food distribution, writing and mailing letters to local vets, finding and talking to business sponsors, putting up flyers in various locations, and assisting in picking up pet food. If you can spare at least one hour a month, we could use you. For a detailed list of items, please see our WISHLIST.
